In a rate of rotation measuring device, a fluid stream from nozzle 1 is directed to the apex 3 of the receiver 2, formed in the plate 14. Rotation of the plate about an axis perpendicular to the plate, causes fluid from 1 to enter the channels A and C unequally, depending upon the direction of rotation. The difference in the rates of flow through A or C is a function of the rate of rotation. The action of plate 16 is similar to that of 14, the two plates being secured together between the end-plates 18, 19. The effect of linear acceleration is eliminated as the jet deflections from the nozzles 1 and 7 are equal and opposite. A combination of three similar systems may sense rotation about three perpendicular axes. |
