The device has a gamma correction circuit (20) of the kind typically used to correct the response of a CRT display system, and includes a functional module (22) for applying a gamma correction function for the system. A control circuit (30) has modules (32, 34) for offering one input pixel to module (22) and gain value to a gain module (24), respectively. A module (36) receives another pixel from the circuit (20) and offers an output pixel. An independent claim is also included for a method of modifying a value of a pixel to be displayed on a flat screen display system.
