PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle board not degraded in strength even in the case of forming a decorative groove for emphasizing a pattern, on the surface. SOLUTION: The particle board 1 has a plurality of plates formed by compression-molding small wood pieces with an adhesive mixed therein, is provided with a high density surface layer 3 higher in density than an inner layer 2, at the uppermost layer on the surface side, wherein the thickness of the surface layer 3 is 2 to 3 mm. In addition, all the faces of the particle board 1 are coated with a sealant. Even if the V-shaped groove for a decorative pattern is machined on the surface part, since the surface layer is thick, the V-shaped groove 4 does not reach the inner layer 2, so that the strength of the particle board 1 is not degraded. Further, since all the faces are coated with the sealant, waterproofness is excellent, and there is no fear of degrading strength even if moisture sticks thereto. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
