This invention concerns a method for validating a deposit bond (20). The method involves receiving data to identify the vendor (30), from an authorised user. Also; verifying the deposit bond (20) by searching for an issued bond which matches the bond identification data (21) and which has not been validated, the issued bonds being stored in a deposit bonds database. If the deposit bond (20) is verified, the deposit bond (20) is validated by storing the vendor identification data (22) together with the corresponding issued bond in the deposit bonds database. In a second aspect, the invention is a validation system (10) for validating a deposit bond (20).
