PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic capacitor, containing conductive polymer suitable as solid electrolyte in the electrolytic capacitor as the solid electrolyte, in order to improve leakage current, in comparison with known polymers. SOLUTION: The electrolytic capacitor contains the polythiophene, having repeating unit shown by general formula (I) as solid electrolyte or general formulas (I) and (II). In the formulas, A is C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>5</SB>alkylene group which may be substituted; R is C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>18</SB>alkyl group which may be substituted, C<SB>5</SB>-C<SB>12</SB>cyclo alkyl group which may be substituted, C<SB>6</SB>-C<SB>14</SB>aryl group which may be substituted, C<SB>7</SB>-C<SB>18</SB>aralkyl group may be substituted, C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>4</SB>hydroxy alkyl group which may be substituted, or hydroxyl group which is composed in a straight chain or branch; and x is an integer of 0-8.
