PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receptacle in which transmission characteristics are stabilized by employing a capillary made of glass material whose coefficient of linear expansion is close to the that of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: An optical receptacle 11 is provided with a capillary 13 into which an optical fiber is inserted and held, a sleeve 7 into which the tip of the capillary 13 is inserted, a metallic case 15 into which the sleeve 7 and the capillary 13 are inserted and stored, and a ring member 17 which has a barrier section 18 that abuts on the back end surface of the capillary 13 and is force-fitted into the metallic case 15. Fixing strength of the capillary 13 by the ring member 17 is increased, shear stress applied to the capillary 13 is reduced, and a low rigidity material can be employed for the capillary 13.
