摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that can increase the productivity of a document read by making the memory capacity of a primary storage device larger than before. SOLUTION: In a step S11, a presence/absence detection sensor confirms whether or not a document is present and paper begins to be fed in a step S12 when a document is present; and an advance to a step S13 is made to check whether the document reaches a registration sensor; when so, it is checked in a step S14 whether image postprocessing of a previous document is long and an advance is made to a step S15 when the postprocessing is long or to a step S17 when short. In the step S15, conveyance is temporarily stopped and in a step S16, it is checked whether the image postprocessing of the previous document is completed; when the image postprocessing is completed, the document is restarted to be read (step S17).
