A shut-off valve or connecting valve (10) capable of connecting a fuel suppl y (16) to a fuel cell (IS) is disclosed. The valve comprises a first valve component (12) and a second valve component (14). Each valve component (12, 14) has an outer housing (20) and a biased slidable member (22) disposed inside the housing (20) forming an internal seal. During the connection process, the two valve components (12, 14) establish an inter-component seal . Afterward, in one suitable embodiment the slidable member (20) moves inward and opens the internal seal in the valve component (12, 14) to establish a n ow path. In another embodiment, the slidable member (20) moves inward and expos es a first filler (90) and the first filler abuts a second filler (104) in the other valve component to establish a flow path. In other embodiments, at lea st one valve component is sized and dimensioned to limit access to the internal seal. |
