PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact negative ion generator which is connected to a water supply pipe of a general house or apartment house and is used to reduce noise. SOLUTION: The negative ion generator comprises a direct injection type nozzle 3 connected to a water supply pipe 11, a negative pressure diffusion target 4 which is disposed facing the direction injection type nozzle 3 and equipped with a tip inclined surface 41 to turn the injected water into mist and diffuses the mist in the direction of generating negative pressure inside a treatment chamber 2, a diffused droplet preventive wall 7 which collects water droplets diffused by the negative pressure diffusion target 4 and forms a closed space of an adequate size to generate negative pressure inside the treatment chamber 2, an intake opening part 5 which is opened in the backward side of the water diffusing direction by the negative pressure diffusion target 4 in the diffused droplet preventive wall 7, and sucks the outside air inside by the generated negative pressure, and an exhaust opening part 6 which is opened on the forward side in the water diffusing direction by the negative pressure diffusion target 4 in the diffusion droplet preventive wall 7 and exhausts the outside air sucked from the intake opening part 5.
