PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance interest of a game, by displaying an image for enhancing the excitement degree of a game player on an image display device. SOLUTION: This game machine has a reel 3 for variably displaying a plurality of patterns, and a main CPU 41 for controlling progress of the game by prescribed operation of the game player. The game machine has a liquid crystal image screen device 14 arranged on this side of reels 3L, 3C and 3R when viewed from the front side, displaying the image, and transmissively displaying the patterns displayed on the reels 3L, 3C and 3R on a prescribed area, and an image screen control CPU 92 for determining the display content of the image. The image screen control CPU 92 prevents a display of an area image for constituting a part of a background in the image on the prescribed area, and displays a background image for constituting the whole background on an area except for the prescribed area, and displays the area image on the prescribed area on the basis of a control command from the main CPU 41.
