<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio tag with a built-in battery sufficiently long in a service life. <P>SOLUTION: The radio tag has a communication circuit for performing an communication operation by being supplied power from the built-in battery. The tag includes a switching device, turning on and off power supply from the battery to the circuit, and a communication starting monitor circuit, monitoring an external energy and turning on the switching device by only the external energy without using the energy from the battery when receiving the external energy.
