PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the operating temperature of a magnetic device using, as a member, an Mn-type antiferromagnetic alloy for magnetic device becomes elevated and trouble is brought about in thermal stability. SOLUTION: The antiferromagnetic alloy is an alloy containing elements of Mn and Ir and has a composition represented by Mn<SB>100-x</SB>Ir<SB>x</SB>(where 40≤x≤52 is satisfied) and also has L1<SB>0</SB>-type regularly arranged crystals. Because this antiferromagnetic alloy has a Neel temperature higher than that of the conventional antiferromagnetic alloy, the magnetic device with excellent thermal stability can be obtained.
