BALLOON CATHETER FOR MAIN ARTERY

A balloon catheter for a main artery, comprising a catheter tube (8a) having a fluid flow passage (9a) for expanding a balloon and a blood flow passage (10a) for measuring blood pressure and a balloon (2a) fitted to the distal end part of the catheter tube (8a) and having an expansion/contraction part (3a) expanded and contracted by leading fluid therein and therefrom through the fluid flow passage (9a). The balloon (2a) is joined to the catheter tube (8a) at the distal end part (4a) and the proximal end part (5a) thereof. A blood inflow hole (31a) communicating the inside of the blood flow passage (10a) with the outside of the catheter tube (8a) is formed in the catheter tube (8a). The blood inflow hole (31a) is positioned on the proximal end side of the boundary (50) of the proximal end part (5a) of the balloon (2a) with the expansion/contraction part (3a).
