A system and method for preventing airborne contamination, lead dust contamination for example, of the interior of a building. The system and method of the present invention involves the use of HEPA-equipped Air Filtration Devices (AFDs) to introduce filtered ambient air into a building in sufficient amounts to create positive pressure conditions within the building relative to the exterior environment. The establishment of positive pressure conditions within the building effectively prevents the migration of airborne contaminants into the building, thereby eliminating airborne contamination of the interior of the building.
