<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which exhibits high front luminance and a wide visual angle with little change in contrast depending on the viewing angle and little change in a color tone due to the luminance reversal in neutral colors, and is usable for various purposes such as an increase in screen size, viewing by a plurality of persons, etc. <P>SOLUTION: A back light comprises a light source, a light guide body having at least one incidence surface and one outgoing surface opposed to the light source, a prism sheet disposed on the light guide body, and a liquid crystal display element disposed on the light guide body. A plurality of lens arrays having an angle of 45° to 90° with respect to the incidence surface are formed in parallel on at least one of the outgoing surface of the light guide body and its back surface.
