PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system combining convenience and safety ensuring high security.

SOLUTION: A contract user registers individual identifiable biological information on the face, fingerprint, voice, eyes, and the like as authentication information in an authentication server 42 beforehand, and the user acquires the biological information by a portable information terminal 1 through a camera or the like and transmits a request for unlocking or locking an electronic lock 63 to a mail server 41 through the Internet 3. The mail server 41 transmits the information to an authentication server 42 where authentication is performed. As a result of authentication, locking and unlocking control of the electronic lock 63 installed at the contract user's house is performed through the mail server 41 and the Internet 3.
