<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio reception system and a receiver which can suppress the reduction of the output of a correlation detection even in a site where a reception waveform is distorted due to the influence of a mutlipath etc., thereby enabling improving the receiving characteristic of the receiver without requiring addition of a new function or increase in transmission power on a transmitter side. <P>SOLUTION: Upon receiving (20) a packet, first, the receiver measures (21) distortion condition of a pulse waveform by using a propagation path state discriminating section included in a header section. Next, a template waveform creator creates (22) a corresponding template waveform on the basis of information about waveform distortion obtained by this measurement. The receiver applies (23) this template waveform to decoding information portion of the packet to reproduce (24) the transmitted information (24). In addition, the scope also includes a method in which the propagation path state discriminating section is provided on the top of the header to perform decoding other than the propagation path state discriminating section of the header by using the template waveform.
