1298038 Sewing DURKOPPWERKE GmbH 21 Oct 1970 [6 Nov 1969] 50076/70 Heading DIG A machine for sewing on labels and the like has a plate 2 moved by a cam to produce a closed stitch pattern on work held thereto by a presser foot formed of two parts, one comprising an outer vertically movable main foot 16 holding the part of the workpiece to which the label &c is to be sewn and an inner auxiliary foot 22 holding the label &c, the latter foot being movable horizontally out of the area of the stitch pattern before the closing of the seam. The main foot comprises plates 12 on either side of an arm 3 moved by a cam, not shown, and also moving the workplate 2. The plates are biassed downwardly, by a spring 13 but may be lifted in slots 10<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP> by a member 19. The auxiliary foot is carried on a rod 21 pivoted to one end of a bell crank lever 23 biassed anti-clockwise by a spring 25, and may itself comprise a two part clamp (Fig. 2, not shown). When foot 16 is raised by member 19 the lever 23 is pivoted clockwise, pawl 29' engaging behind peg 31 to hold the auxiliary presser foot 22 forward. When stitching is nearly completed the leftward movement of part 3 at that time causes pin 32 to engage arm 29" to release pawl 29', the auxiliary presser foot 22 moving rightwards, clear of the seam, by the spring 26. Alternatively, pin 32 may be cam controlled. |
