PURPOSE: A sheet-type retaining plate and a fixing method thereof are provided to prevent collapse of earth and sand by fixing both ends of a lightweight material having excellent tensile strength to H-beams and to facilitate carriage and installation. CONSTITUTION: In a sheet-type retaining plate(10), the ends of the retaining plate are fixed to two H-beams for excavation and tensile strength is achieved and thus collapse of earth and sand is prevented correspondently to earth pressure. The sheet-type retaining plate has a nonwoven fabric(11) facing earth and sand; a mesh(12) of a grid-patterned shape opposed to the nonwoven fabric; and plural iron pieces(13) sandwiched between the nonwoven fabric and the mesh in the longitudinal direction. The nonwoven fabric, the mesh, and the iron pieces are integrally formed. The iron pieces have strength for fixing both ends of the retaining plate to the H-beams. The sheet-type retaining plate is formed in a roll type and is cut to be used in length required.
