PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for automatically setting an image capture device to an appropriate operational mode. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the method sets an image capture device 100 to one of a plurality of available operational modes for the image capture device. The method comprises a step (503) of determining an angle of pitch orientation of the image capture device, and steps (505, 506) of setting the image capture device to the one of the plurality of operational modes if the angle of pitch orientation is within a predetermined angle range associated with the one of the plurality of operational modes.
