PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation apparatus which can detect rainfall and visually display rainfall information at a low cost by utilizing a standard equipment provided in a vehicle. SOLUTION: The apparatus specifys the position on the map of a driver's own vehicle based on position information of the vehicle and pre-installed map information, visualizes and displays the vehicle position with surrounding map information on the screen of a display part, and also obtains wiper driving information of the own vehicle, visually displays rainfall information on the screen of the display part based on the driving information of the wiper.
