<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-recovering wavelength division multiplexing passive optical subscriber network which is economically feasible. <P>SOLUTION: The network has trunk working and protection fibers 310 and 312 which connect a central office 300 and a remote node 320, and distributed working and protection fibers 330 and 332 which connect a remote node and each of a plurality of subscriber devices 340. The central office comprises an optical switching element 308 which is connected to each of the trunk working and protection fibers, and switched when a fault occurs; bottom-up working and protection light receivers 302 and 307 for bottom-up data reception; and top-down working and protection light sources 301 and 306 for top-down data transmission. A subscriber device has an optical switching element 341 which is connected to each of the distributed working and protection fibers and switched when a fault occurs, top-down working and protection light receivers 344 and 347 for top-down data reception, and bottom-up working and protection light sources 343 and 346 for bottom-up data transmission. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
