MANUFACTURING METHOD OF ACTIVATED CARBON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing activated carbon that is capable of reducing the amount of a magnetic heavy metal incorporated to the level of electronic materials such as an electrical double layer capacitor and the like.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the activated carbon with a small heavy metal content comprises charging the activated carbon obtained by performing the activation treatment of a carbonaceous material using an alkali metal hydroxide into water, filtrating the resulting slurry-like substance, treating the resulting filtered slurry with a magnet having magnetic force of 5,000 gauss or more and then subjecting the same to washing.
