PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic sealing method suited for an optical module which uses an optical waveguide made of resin which is relatively cheap and which can be mass-produced. SOLUTION: In the optical waveguide module, the optical module made of resin and optical fibers are connected and fixed in a case and the inside of the case is hermetically sealed to open air. The case of the optical waveguide is assembled with metals or metallic members whose surfaces are plated by using solder. These members consist of a barrel part processed by drawing work, rolling processing or pressing work and lid parts processed by cutting work or pressing work. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
