<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, the heat resistance of which is enhanced so that the light-off performance and high-temperature cleaning performance of the catalyst can be kept over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst is obtained by forming a catalyst layer on a carrier, which contains Rh and Pt as catalytic noble metals, γ-alumina and a multiple oxide containing Ce and Zr at the least.
