PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized and lightened differential device of simplified structure by reducing the number of components. SOLUTION: This differential device has an operating member 65 engaged with a side gear 5 through cam faces 61, 67, and a differential case 3, the side gear 5 and the operating members 65 are provided with contact faces 31, 33, 59, 69 kept into contact with each other when the side gear 5 and the operating member 65 receive the moving force in the direction separating from each other by the action of the cam faces 61, 67. The contact faces 41, 44, 59, 69 are frictional engagement faces, movably supported by the differential case 3, and rotated and engaged with the operating member 65 in a state before the movement. The rotation restriction force to the differential case 3 is applied to the operating member 65 by the differential rotation of the side gear 5. This differential device is provided with a restriction force applying means 83 moved by more than specific centrifugal force by the rotation of the differential case 3 to release the rotational engagement with the operating member 65.
