A method of receiving image data indicative of an image and providing to a printer print data, corresponding to said image data, the print data being in a predetermined print format and having a predetermined print resolution, the method including the steps of receiving the image data, converting the image data into first format data having a first predetermined resolution, converting the first format data into the print data and making the print data available to a printer for printing. Apparatus for receiving image data indicative of an image and providing to a printer a print data, corresponding to said image data, the print data being in a predetermined print format and having a predetermined print resolution, the apparatus including input means for receiving the image data, sampling means for converting the image data into first format data having a first predetermined resolution, processing means for converting the first format data into the print data and output means for making the print data available to a printer for printing.
