PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an impact energy absorbing stroke longer than already existing lengths, and to reduce burden applied to a driver. SOLUTION: This steering device is equipped with a steering shaft 1 which is connected with a steering wheel, and an anti-friction bearing 2 which supports the steering shaft 1 in a housing 4 and transmits an impact energy applied to the steering shaft 1 to the housing 4. The housing 4 is equipped with an impact energy absorbing section 42 which moves the anti-friction bearing 2 in the axial length direction while being deformed by the impact energy applied to a fitting section 41 in which the external ring 22 of the anti-friction bearing 2 is fitted and the external ring 22 to constitute the steering device.
