PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle for obtaining sufficient heating performance, even under an extremely low temperature outside air environment. SOLUTION: This air conditioner 1a is provided with a compressor 2 for compressing gaseous phase coolant, heat exchangers 3 and 4 for heat radiation for discharging heat of the gaseous phase coolant introduced from the compressor 2 to surrounding air, a cabin inside heat exchanger 7 for absorbing heat disposed in a cabin inside air flow passage P1 to make the gaseous phase coolant introduced from the heat exchangers 3 and 4 absorb heat of blowing air, an expansion means 6 for expanding the coolant introduced from the heat exchangers 3 and 4 for heat radiation to the cabin inside heat exchanger 7 for absorbing heat, and a heating means 21 disposed in the cabin inside air flow passage P1. In the air conditioner 1a for adjusting a temperature environment within the cabin, a heating means 20 is installed on an upstream side of the cabin inside heat exchanger 7 for absorbing heat in the cabin inside air flow passage P1 and at a position where a heat exchange with the cabin inside heat exchanger 7 for absorbing heat can be performed.
