PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder device suitable for attaching/detaching a feeding/discharging stacker and a carrying means above a platen as a unit, and capable of certainly carrying documents from the paper feeding stacker along the platen; and an image reading device using the feeder device. SOLUTION: The paper feeding stacker 17 and a carrying belt 19 are generally horizontally disposed along a surface of the platen 2, and the paper discharging stacker 18 is disposed above the paper feeding stacker 17. A shielding cover member 24 shielding light of the platen 2 is provided between the platen surface and the paper feeding stacker 17, and a vacuum chamber 22 is disposed above the carrying belt 19. A carrying guide 36 is provided between the paper feeding stacker 17 and the carrying belt 19, and the document is guided in a range of 5 to 25 degrees to the platen. A driving motor M capable of normally and reversely rotating is coupled to the carrying belt 19, and the document from the platen 2 is stored in the paper discharging stacker 18.
