PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer decompressed color image data to a quadruple tandem type engine part with optimum timing by surely retaining compressed image data for transferring the color image data to the engine part. SOLUTION: A memory control part 1032c writes the compressed image data by color, created in a host-based manner, into a low-capacity RAM 1035; the compressed image data by color are retained in the RAM 1035 in a ring buffer format by being decompressed while being read out from a memory; and the timing of the transfer of the image data by color, which are decompressed depending on image forming timing of each image forming part, is controlled.
