1307331 Ultrafiltration of gel-containing solutions AMICON CORP 5 Feb 1970 [5 Feb 1969] 5536/70 Heading B1X Solutions containing gel-forming dispersed particles or gel-forming macromolecules are ultrafiltered by flowing the solution across the face of a membrane using lamina flow in a thin channel membrane device with a velocity sufficient to exert on the membrane a hydrodynamic stress of at least 200 dynes/cm<SP>2</SP>. The temperature or velocity of the solution may be pulsed. There is reference to use of an apparatus having four channels each 0.01" height, 0.25" width, the wetted surface of the apparatus being coated with polytetrafluoroethylene. Solutions treated include bovine serum albumin, haemoglobin. |
