PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus of driving a plasma display panel are provided to divide one subfield pattern including plural subfield with luminance weights into two or more subfield groups for reducing flicker and contour noise by dividing one subfield pattern into plural subfield groups and increasing spacing between the subfield groups. CONSTITUTION: A process for setting up sub field pattern is performed to set up one subfield pattern including a plurality of subfields having luminance weights. A dividing process is performed to divide the subfield pattern into two or more subfield groups including the plural subfields. A dispersion process is performed to disperse the subfield groups within one frame. A driving process is performed to drive the plasma display panel by using the diffused subfield groups.
