PURPOSE: A safety device and an operation method thereof of a portable gas range are provided to prevent overheating of a gas cylinder by driving a safety operation unit and discharging and burning the gas to a burner through an auxiliary exhaust pipe before the pressure of the gas cylinder rises up to 5¯7kg/cm¬2. CONSTITUTION: A safety device of a portable gas range is composed of a housing(101) connected to a gas passage(100) of a regulator(52) and operated within a range that is over maximum pressure of the general pressure or minimum pressure of dangerous pressure; a gas exhaust passage(25) coupled to the housing to discharge the gas; and an auxiliary gas exhaust pipe(26) supplying and burning the gas discharged from the gas exhaust passage to a burner and having a gas jetting nozzle(27). One end of the auxiliary gas exhaust pipe is connected to the gas exhaust passage and the other end is coupled with a main gas exhaust pipe installed at an air mixing pipe in parallel.
