The transporting device for a wrapping material strip (12) drawn from a bobbin (13) in the tobacco processing industry has a first and a second drawing roller unit, whereby the first drawing roller unit is constructed to draw the wrapping materials strip from the bobbin. The device has a measuring device (36) to record the tension of the wrapping material strip, and a control device (25) regulates the tension by variation of tensioning force acting on the wrapping material strip through the second drawing roller unit (17,31). An independent claim is included for a method for the transporting of a wrapping material strip in the tobacco processing industry from a bobbin to a cutting device.
