METHOD OF DISPLAYING THE LOCATION OF A MOVING TARGET IN A NAVIGATION SYSTEM, CONCERNED WITH DISPLAYING THE POSITION OF A DETECTED TARGET BY MATCHING THE LOCATION ON DIGITAL MAP

PURPOSE: A method of displaying a location of a moving target in a navigation system is provided to match a location of a moving target on a digital map without distortion by using road width information for determining the location of the moving target. CONSTITUTION: A main controller obtains GPS/DR detection coordinates(300). A detection position of a moving target on a digital map corresponding to the GPS/DR detection coordinates is calculated(306). A road width is calculated by using the detection position of the moving target and a road boundary and a searching radius are set up(308-310). The detection position of the moving target is compared with the searching radius of the outside of the road boundary(312-314). The moving target is displayed on the road boundary if the detection position of the moving target is within the searching radius of the outside of the road boundary(316-318).
