PURPOSE: A moisture removing air conditioner unit and a control method thereof for a vehicle are provided to prevent an offensive odor generated from mold by drying moisture in a duct by using a humidity sensor, an auxiliary heater, and a moisture removing damper. CONSTITUTION: A moisture removing air conditioner unit for a vehicle is composed of a hot-water heater core(50) flowing the coolant for cooling down an engine therein; an air mix damper(80) installed in the front side of the heater core to regulate the temperature of the air supplied into a vehicle room; an evaporator core(10) passing refrigerant; and a blower(20) for sending the air heat-exchanged through the heater core and the evaporator core. A duct(30) has a re-circulation passage(31) for circulating the air passing through the evaporator core to the blower again. A humidity sensor(40) for measuring humidity and an auxiliary heater(60) for assisting heating value of the heater core and sterilizing and removing the moisture are installed in the front and rear sides of the evaporator core in the duct. A moisture removing damper(70) for changing the flow direction of the air is disposed at the boundary of the duct and the re-circulation passage. The moisture removing air conditioner unit controls the blower, the auxiliary heater, and the moisture removing damper by a set logic according to a humidity value output from the humidity sensor.
