PURPOSE: An auto power control device and method are provided to digitalize an auto power controller and include the auto power controller and a main controlled in the auto power control device, to thereby freely vary auto power. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether the digital value of an input current corresponding to reference intensity of a laser diode is provided(400). When the digital value of the input current is provided, the digital value of the actual feedback current is subtracted from the digital value of the input current(402). The digital value of a radiation voltage for radiating the laser diode is generated using the digital value of the subtracted error current(404). The digital value of the radiation voltage is converted into an analog signal(408). Light is generated according to the radiation voltage(410). The actual current corresponding to the quantity of generated light is converted into a digital value(412).
