The heated cup (2) has three successive zones on its outer surface to control the shrinkage of yarn passing over it. The three zones cover virtually the whole of its outer surface and comprise a zone to take up initial curling, a residual shrinkage zone and a fixing zone. The first two zones are conical in shape with different angles of taper, while the third is cylindrical and is longer than the combines length of the first two. During operation the cup is heated to the required temperature, e.g. by induction, and subjected to a positive rotation by a drive such as a motor. It can be followed, for example, by cooling and relaxation stages.
|
