The process involves including a parameter (p) aiding pre-fetching decision in a set of multiple sets of parameters associated with a link of a page stored in a content server (S). The page is transmitted from the server to a proxy server (6) via a communication network with the sets. The aiding parameters are processed at the reception of the page to select pages to be pre-fetched. The pre-fetching of the selected pages is controlled. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a content server for implementing the navigation process (b) a unit connected to a content server for implementing a navigation process (c) a computer program to be installed in a content server.
