PURPOSE: A method for managing a personal portable terminal using a character is provided to offer clear information to users by linking a character to the programs of a personal portable terminal so that the character, operated according to the use of the linked programs, can provide texts and voices to the user. CONSTITUTION: In a personal portable terminal(10), a program containing a character(30) to manage the personal portable terminal(10) is installed. The user of the personal portable terminal(10) clicks on the character(30) and links the character(30) to the programs of the personal portable terminal(10) so that the linked programs can be executed. The character(30) moves according to the use of the linked programs, and provides texts and voices related to the programs. If the user clicks on the character(30) using a touch pen, a menu window(40) for the programs linked to the character(30) is displayed. If the user selects one of the linked programs, a window for the selected program is displayed and information on the program is provided to the user through the character(30) as a text and a voice.
