PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small stepping motor realizing smooth motion. SOLUTION: The stepping motor comprises a rotor having two magnetic poles, a first magnetic pole being excited by a first coil, a second magnetic pole being excited by a second coil, and a third magnetic pole being excited by the first and second coils wherein the gap between the third magnetic pole and the rotor is formed larger than the gap between the first and second magnetic poles and the rotor. Since a wide gap is set between the third magnetic pole and the rotor where a strong magnetic field may be generated, magnetic field acting on the rotor of the stepping motor can be lessened. Since the magnetic field acting on the rotor is made uniform, smooth rotation of the rotor can be realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
