<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high speed fast forward and fast take-up modes for a magnetic tape at a tape running speed in accordance with a correct reel rotation period ratio even though the reel rotation period ratio between the rotation period of a take-up reel and the rotation period of a feeding reel is suddenly changed by adverse effect caused by noise or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Discrimination is made to determine the kind of a magnetic tape based on the square sum of the rotation period of the feeding reel and the rotation period of the take-up reel. The tape running speed is accelerated to the speed in accordance with the kind of the tape, the fast forward and fast take-up modes for the magnetic tape are conducted with the tape running speed corresponding to the reel rotation period ratio of the feeding reel rotation period and the take-up reel rotation period and the reel rotation period ratio is monitored. When the ratio is suddenly changed in the case of monitoring the reel rotation period ratio, the fast forward and the fast take-up modes are continued with a tape running speed corresponding to the reel rotation period ratio being existed prior to the current reel rotation period ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
