PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developer at a low cost in which a coloring agent, a low melting point substance and a binder resin are sufficiently dispersed and which has favorable transparency and tone. SOLUTION: The developer is prepared by melting and kneading a mixture of a coloring agent, a binder resin, a crystalline compound, a first wax having low DSC endothermic peak temperature and a second wax having high DSC endothermic peak temperature in a twin-screw continuous extruder with 0.2 to 1.0 kWh/kg kneading energy E (kWh/kg).
