PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of dealing with troubles of components related to the print head in a printer which can mount a large number of print heads. SOLUTION: A carriage 1 can mount a plurality of print heads 60, and drive control sections 330 provided in correspondence with one or more specified number of print heads 60, respectively. The printer body 300 can mount a plurality of data processing sections 320 for transferring data to respective drive control sections 330. The print head unit comprising the specified number of print heads 60 and one drive control section 330 can be mounted, one by one, arbitrarily and removably on the carriage 1.
