PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the omission amount when reading an original and to make it easy to read a book original in a fixed sheet original reader in which a reader is provided on originals to read the originals sequentially ejected from the top of the originals. SOLUTION: An ejecting means 12 waits at a first position where the ejecting means 12 is not brought into contact with a sheet while a flat bed scanner 1 reads the image on the sheet and is moved to a second position where the ejecting means is brought into contact with the sheet from a gap formed in such a manner that the flat bed scanner 1 is turned with a separation motor 16 as a driving source after the flat bed scanner 1 finishes reading the image on the sheet.
