PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an intermediate transfer body inexpensive and also to make it excellently perform transfer. SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer drum 18 being the intermediate transfer body abuts on a photoreceptor drum on which a toner image is formed so that the toner image on the photoreceptor drum may be transferred to the drum 18. The intermediate transfer drum has a cylindrical rigid cylinder 18a, base material 18b being an elastic body fixed on the outer peripheral surface of the rigid cylinder, and transfer belt material 18c arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the base material. The length of the transfer belt material in the axial direction is longer than the length of the base material in the axial direction, and both end parts of the transfer belt material in the shaft direction are fixed on the rigid cylinder.
