PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-hydrogen storage battery capable of sustaining smooth charging/discharging reactions, suitable for a power source of a motive force. SOLUTION: In the nickel-hydrogen storage battery, an electrode group is constructed by controlling a cubic volume of pores in a separator for holding electrolyte liquid between positive and negative electrodes made of nickel so as to range between 0.004 cm<SP>3</SP>/cm<SP>2</SP>and 0.0012 cm<SP>3</SP>/cm<SP>2</SP>. The electrode group is constructed so that a content of Mn in a negative electrode plate mainly made of hydrogen storing an alloy and a content of Co in a positive electrode plate mainly made of a nickel hydroxide range between 4.0 to 8.0 mg, and 0.5 to 4.5 mg, respectively.
