PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content sending device and method making it easy for a receiving device to detect that outputs are made impossible by a copy control function and to provide a content receiving device and method enabling a sending device to easily detect that outputs are made impossible by the copy control function. SOLUTION: The content sending device comprises a copy control information detecting part 20 which detects copy control information from input contents; a copy control information determining part 21 which determines the contents of the copy control information detected; a content output control part 18 which controls the contents to make them unable to be outputted upon a determination that the contents cannot be outputted; and an output disability information output part 19 which outputs output disability information indicating that the contents cannot be outputted.
