A tamperproof closure for a container 1 is formed by an insert 3 having a flange 6 with an annular portion 7 of less thickness than the remainder of the flange, so that a cap 9, provided with at least two cutting members 13 and held captive by a bead 8, may be rotated, thereby severing the portion 7 and enabling the cap to be removed. The cap may be of a harder material than the insert and both parts may be injection moulded in plastics. The cutting members 13 may be formed in various positions on caps corresponding to the cap 9 and co-operate with portions 7 in various positions on inserts, Figs. 2-8 (not shown); or the members 13 may be on the inserts and the portions 7 on the caps, Figs. 9-12 (not shown). The cap may be used to cut out a diaphragm in the insert, Fig. 14 (not shown), a flange on the diaphragm holding the cap captive. The portion 7 may be in the form of thin transverse ribs, Fig. 13 (not shown). A loop (26) may connect the cap to the container or to the flange 6, Figs. 15 and 16 (not shown). The device may be used in conjunction with removable pouring spouts which, on release, are inverted and made to re-engage inserts 3 by means of a bayonet cam, Fig. 17 (not shown), or a screw-thread 35, Fig. 18. The pouring spout may simply be pulled out and held permanently extended by shoulders (40, 41) formed at its lower end, Fig. 19 (not shown). |
